A recent article from New Scientist magazine looks into how wood is being processed into a super-material.
There is a growing wood revolution, with Liangbing Hu, a materials scientist at the University of Maryland, stating that wood could even be used in cars. Engineers in Japan are also on board with this idea and are working on a wooden concept car, which will be revealed at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.
Cars are just the start in this wooden trend, visions of steel, concrete, plastics and electronics felled by wood all being possibilities.
