Britain breaks record for longest continuous period running without coal AGAIN

Britain went coal free for 336 hours (2 weeks), thereby breaking the previous record set in April 2019 over Easter for more than 90 hours. This is the first time since the industrial revolution to go this long producing power without coal.

RenewableUK’s Deputy Chief Executive Emma Pinchbeck said: ‘Coal was the backbone of the last industrial revolution – but this old technology is being beaten by wind energy, the powerhouse of our 21st century economy.’

This encouraging rise of renewable energy sources such as wind and solar exposes the serious lack of storage capacity with which to control the supply from these intermittent energy sources. Energy Storage Systems (ESS) are the answer.
